WCD Minister Launches SHe-Box Portal for Workplace Safety of Working Women

Grievances of working women are to be redressed through the centralized portal. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi on Thursday launched the SHe-Box portal, a platform to improve the safety of working women at workplaces by redressing complaints of sexual harassment. The platform has promised to overhaul the process of grievance redressal and establish an effective timetable in complaint redressal.

The portal for SHe-Box was launched here at a function in Delhi as part of government efforts to create safer workplaces for women. The SHe-Box will be an all-India central repository of information regarding internal committees and local committees, not only within government sectors but also in the private sector. This platform allows women to file complaints, follow up on the status, and ensure that grievances are processed smoothly.

The SHe-Box portal is special since it provides a nodal officer for real-time monitoring of complaints and makes redress through this grievance mechanism of workplace harassment smoother and more reliable. According to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, this would make the workplace environment much safer and inclusive for women in general all over the country.

At the event, Annapurna Devi also launched a revamped version of the website of the ministry. She emphasized the role played by SHe-Box portal in molding a safer environment for women. “This initiative is a important step toward an well-organized platform to deal with complaints about workplace sexual harassment. It highlights the government’s commitment toward creating a safer and more inclusive work environment for women in India,” she said.

The opening of the SHe-Box portal is aligned with the overall vision of the government’s “Viksit Bharat by 2047” which implores the development led by women as one of the crucial tenets of national growth.
