In a thrilling display of archery prowess, the world number one Indian women’s compound team stormed into the final of the Archery World Cup Stage II. However, the men’s team was unable to secure a medal, losing the bronze medal clash to Australia.

The Indian women’s team, comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami, had previously clinched the gold medal in the World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai last month. In the semi-finals, they showcased their dominance by defeating the world number four USA team with a score of 233-229.

The Indian women’s team had a relatively easy path to the final, receiving a bye into the quarterfinals after finishing second in the qualifying round. They then eliminated Italy 236-234 in the last-eight to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

In contrast, the world number one Indian men’s team, consisting of Priyansh, Prathamesh Fuge, and veteran Abhishek Verma, faced a disappointing outcome. After slipping to fourth place in the qualifying round on Tuesday, they lost to the lower-ranked Australian team in a shoot-off, with a score of 133-133 (10-10*).

The Indian women’s team will now face off against world number seven Turkey in the gold medal clash on Saturday. Turkey had earlier stunned the top-seeded and local favorites, South Korea, with a score of 234-233 in the other semi-final.

This tournament has highlighted the continued excellence of the Indian women’s compound archery team, while also serving as a learning experience for the men’s team as they strive to regain their top form.
