The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) hosted the maiden Leadership Summit in the city recently with a vision to address gender equity in healthcare leadership across India. The event featured some of the healthcare top guns and service providers, including Novartis, Lilly, GSK, and Pfizer, among others, at the platform in discussing the dire need for more women in the industry.
As India’s workforce expands, the HBA comes to understand the central role that this country plays in its global efforts through the special opportunity that stands for women’s growth into leadership positions within the healthcare sector. Over the last three years, the HBA community in India has grown from 15 to more than 450-strong-an established testament to broad commitment toward building female leadership.
The assemblage also called for the need to have equal compensation and women’s health and wellness besides equal distribution. HBA supports the concept that gender equality in leadership positions requires men to support through allies, foremost in men-dominated sectors. The association advocates for men to take the position of allies toward the sharing of equally distributed chances for leadership.
The head of HBA, Mary Stutts, said about the event, “India’s global importance means that impact achieved here will resonate profoundly around the world. The HBA is committed to acknowledging the contributions of Indian women and unlocking their leadership potential as influencers for the future of global healthcare.”
For her part, Dr Deepa Desai, HBA India head, stated that she is proud to host an organization empowering woman and calls male allies in this effort. “Our strategy is to make women-and their sympathizers-empowered through acquisition of knowledge, confidence, and connect to impact meaningful change in the industry.”
It thereby became a benchmark summit from the point of view of the significance of gender diversity in leadership roles in healthcare. It further served as a spurring agent in what would be an ongoing function in the support and elevation of women in this field. The HBA continues to stand true to its mission of building a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment in India.
