The IWFCI INDIA NATIONAL CHAPTER ‘Women Entrepreneurship Awards 2023’ aims to recognize and celebrate successful women entrepreneurs who have established micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. The International Women’s Federation of Commerce and Industry (IWFCI) is a non-profit organization that was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 1992 by Ms. Diana Abruzzi.
IWFCI INDIA registered as the Forum of Women in Commerce and Industry, is committed to supporting women entrepreneurs and helping them scale up their businesses through its global network of IWFCI chapters.
The awards include categories such as the ‘Women Entrepreneur Award 2023,’ ‘Women Social Entrepreneur Award 2023,’ and ‘Women Business Entrepreneur Award 2023.’ These awards recognize outstanding women entrepreneurs in both the business and social sectors. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a trophy, and a citation.
The event, ‘IWFCI Entrepreneurship Summit and Women Entrepreneurship Awards 2023,’ witnessed participation from IWFCI members across 14 chapters globally, members of various business networks, management student entrepreneurs, and the general public.
Key speakers at the event emphasized the growing role of women in entrepreneurship and the need to support and empower women in business. Rajesh Dembla, Founder of Zoozle.in, highlighted the significant contribution of women to the industry’s growth and the changing landscape of entrepreneurship.
Ms. Diana Abruzzi, Founder and International Chair of IWFCI, discussed the impact of the entrepreneurial mindset on global economies. Ms. Archana Shiroor, Chief Human Resources Officer of Yes Bank, shared insights into the expected growth of women-led businesses in the coming years, as reported by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Dr. Daphne Pillai, Chairperson of the Management Board of Mahatma Education Society and leader of IWFCI INDIA was recognized for her significant contributions to education and efforts to empower underprivileged women through adult literacy drives and skill development programs. Dr. Pillai emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating women entrepreneurs’ contributions to the country’s economic growth.
She also highlighted the recent passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, which will provide opportunities for women’s political participation and decision-making, benefiting women entrepreneurs across various sectors. The IWFCI-INDIA Women Entrepreneur Awards aim to celebrate women’s initiatives, determination, and successful businesses, serving as role models for aspiring women entrepreneurs.
