With the goal of teaching five lakh women, SAWiT.AI will organize a women-only Gen AI learning competition on September 21. The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has partnered with GUVI and SAWiT (South Asian Women in Tech) in an effort to empower women in the technology industry. With an emphasis on generative AI (Gen AI) skills, this partnership seeks to involve over 1.6 million female students from more than 8,200 technical institutes throughout India.
With the goal of training five lakh women, SAWiT.AI will organize the women-only Gen AI learning competition on September 21. Students all throughout the country can get free, unrestricted internet access through this program. The ultimate objective is to provide 10 million women with Gen AI skills, enabling them to succeed in their careers in the quickly changing digital industry.
The Department of Higher Education’s AICTE is essential to the development and upkeep of technical education standards in India. By incorporating Gen AI training into the curriculum, it hopes to meet the growing demand for education that is prepared for the future. This program, which is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, intends to improve the skilling ecosystem through the use of the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) and the National Credit Framework.
There are several advantages to the AICTE-SAWiT.AI collaboration. The course is thorough and approachable, with students gaining Gen AI abilities in six Indian languages in addition to English. Students receive one academic credit upon completion of the 15-hour Gen AI course, which includes Python and enhances institutional curriculum. In October 2024, students can also participate in the SAWiT hackathon, where they can compete for rewards and recognition. The SAWiT network, which encourages entrepreneurial and professional success, is open to participants.
