Smt. Annpurna Devi, Union Minister of Women and Child Development, visits several women’s and children’s welfare facilities in Delhi to assess the current status and prepare for future changes.
The complex houses numerous central government-sponsored welfare institutions.

Shri Anil Malik, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India, accompanied the Ministers. Smt. Annpurna Devi, Union Minister of Women and Child Development, and Smt. Savitri Thakur, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, visited the Nirmal Chhaya Complex in Delhi.

She visited the Children’s Home for Girls, the After Care Home for Women, and the Child Welfare Committee, all of which promote family-based, non-institutional care for children in challenging circumstances. These institutions are managed by Mission Vatsalya within the Ministry. The Union Minister visited with the children at these centers. She also visited the One Stop Centre and the SANKALP-Hub for Women’s Empowerment, both of which are part of the Ministry’s Mission Shakti and promote women’s safety and empowerment.

The Union Minister was accompanied by senior officials, and several ideas were explored to enhance the institutions’ capacities. To achieve the Prime Minister’s goal of women-led growth and “leave no child behind,” it is crucial to prioritize child rights advocacy and awareness, as well as strengthen the juvenile justice system.

There are several issues required to be addressed for improvement including health, education, social and economic development of women across the masses.
